What do I bring to the visit?

Bring notes, not a polished speech. Start with what brought you to the visit, what you hope will change, and what worries you.

Put your health history within reach

The semaglutide (Wegovy) label checked September 26, 2026 highlights health history that matters when considering care.

The thyroid is a small organ in your neck.

Discuss any history of thyroid cancer in yourself or your family with the prescriber, along with severe stomach problems, diabetes-related eye damage, and pregnancy plans.

Past gallstones and pancreatitis also belong in that health history.

Pancreatitis means swelling and irritation of the pancreas, an organ in the belly.

Other diabetes medicines and planned surgery also matter in the label’s checks.

Write down medicines, supplements, past reactions, and any test results you have. A health professional with permission to order medicine is called a prescriber. Leave room for them to ask more.

Ask what needs checking

Medical-board guidance says needed tests may be done, arranged at another service, or obtained through a referral.

A referral sends you to a different health professional or service.

Ask which tests would answer a question about your health. Ask who reviews the results and how you will hear back.

Make the after-visit plan concrete

The semaglutide label says people with diabetes need blood-sugar checks before starting treatment and as treatment continues.

Regular heart-rate checks are another label requirement; heart rate means how fast the heart beats.

Kidney checks are needed if unwanted effects could cause too much fluid loss, such as bad vomiting or loose stools.

These checks have different reasons and timing. Ask who handles each one, when it happens, and who holds your care record. Get a way to ask questions between visits.

Talk about more than the first prescription

Ask how the plan will be reviewed if the medicine does not suit you, the bill changes, or you want to stop. Bring your preferences into that conversation.

The STEP 1 follow-up found that participants regained weight in the year after treatment ended: about two-thirds of their earlier loss.

That group result does not set the length of treatment for an individual.
